FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why should I use a scopist? Won't I be wasting money paying someone to edit and format my transcripts?

  • You should most definitely use a scopist to save yourself time and to earn more money writing than editing and formatting.

Do you add cover pages and signature pages if requested?

  • Yes. Send a copy of the notice and ID the speakers and it will be taken care of.

Do you read for content as well as punctuation, grammar, etc.?

  • Yes. It all has to make sense while reading it. I will flag any words or areas of context that do not make sense.

Do you read steno?

  • Yes. I can help you update your dictionary with each transcript scoped.

Do you actively research all items necessary during scoping?

  • Yes. I will research spellings of proper names, medical terms, companies, addresses, etc. Anything that I have a question on, I will research.

Will you be able to meet my stringent deadlines?

  • Absolutely every effort will be made to meet -- and usually exceed -- any deadlines you have. I will not take the job if I don't feel I can meet the deadline with a superior product.

Will you complete a free job to test your services?

  • I will complete a test job of up to 15 pages at no charge to determine our compatibility working together as a team.

How can I help you do your job to the best of your ability and to my complete satisfaction?

  • Always make sure to update your preference sheet when necessary.

  • Communicate as clearly and completely as possible regarding upcoming jobs, large jobs, rush jobs, or any other pertinent issues.

What are your office hours/days?

  • I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado, so I am on Mountain Standard Time. Office hours are from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays. Transcripts must be received by 2 p.m. MST to be counted for that business day. Otherwise, jobs arriving after that will be entered into the calendar at 8 a.m. the following day. Please note that work on weekends and/or holidays can be accommodated for rush jobs.  Please see the rate sheet.

What is your invoicing schedule?

  • For new clients, jobs are billed immediately, with payment due in 7 days. After three jobs with prompt payment, the client will move to regular invoicing, whereby bills are sent the 1st and 15th of the month and are due within 15 days. A 10% late fee will be assessed if invoices are not paid within the 15 days. No new jobs will be accepted from the client whose payment is 30 days past due.

What types of payment forms do you take?

      A.  Personal check, Paypal, and Venmo.
